The unemployment rate for April was down again 1 tenth of a point from March at 8.2% to 8.1%. Job creation reports that the private sector added 130,000, the public sector lost 15,000 jobs for a net gain of 115,000 jobs in April. Job creation continues to be low for a robust recovery. An additional employment concern is that this unemployment rate reflects 342K people dropping out of the labor market in April.
The State?s 2012 legislative session is over and there are several pieces of good news for business owners. The tax rate for Idaho corporations and top tier individuals is lowered to 7.4% which is expected to be valued at over $35 million. The sales tax exemption on aircraft repair parts is expected to lead to 100 new jobs in the state. The $1 million funding of the Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission, will fund research at state universities that could result in new businesses for the state. On the ?didn?t get to? side of the ledger the state did not deal with ...

The ITC is hosting Tech Cocktail Boise again on April 3 from 6-9pm. We?re looking for startups to join us this year too. Per Tech Cocktail rules, previous startups can?t join, but I?m hoping you can refer me to some startups who can. That shouldn?t stop you from joining the event as an attendee though.

I recently attended a
seminar on Trends in
Raising Capital in Palo
Alto sponsored by the Angel
Capital Association. The
ACA is an association of
about 300 angel groups
throughout the United
States and Canada Those
300 groups collectively represent
about 10,000 active
angel investors.
The seminar provided information
to leaders of angel
groups on the current
state of the angel capital
market. One section I found
particularly interesting was
titled "Meeting Investor Expectations."
The information, which I
summarize below, was
based upon a membership
survey by the ACA Fiftyeight
groups participated,

TECenter Friends,
The article below tells you how use a quick and easy Google tool for gaining competitive intelligence and it really works. I tried it on the TECenter website and discovered several pages of outdated information that I had no idea was still available on the site. The search exposed pages that were still available but don't show up on site tabs or drop downs. I was surprised by what it uncovered but it presented a great opportunity to do some overdue housekeeping on the website. I would recommend using it on your own company website first to find any information that may be exposed that you were unaware of then give it a try on your competitor sites.
